about

To A Science is Arsonist arguing with themself as the plans are about to set in motion to burn their hometown to the ground. Arsonist goes back and forth shortly on the morality of what they are doing and if they can actually go through with it and eventually settling on convincing themself that they can and will do this. And the city definitely deserves to burn and Arsonist knows it has to be done, and no one else can do it but them.

This song was one of the first three wrote for this album, the other two being bloody knees and one that repurposed into a b-side I am planning to release at a later date called "Midwest Deathtrap". This final version of this song is my third try through at recording it. I do not have a car myself despite this song implying I do, it is probably the most artistic liberty I took in this album. The second verse in this final version was changed to better fit the story and distance it a bit further from my actual life.
The second verse originally was
"You're such a fucking fake,
you tag them whenever you can
facebook to instagram as if you actually know them"
This song kept feeling like I was attacking another person rather than myself so I changed the lyrics to drive home the fact that this was me arguing with myself rather than anything else.

lyrics

You're such a fucking drag
Drag me behind your car
We can pick up pieces of me
from here to fargo
and satan if you're there
I've got a good soul to sell
and I'll sell it cheap
and I'll sell it

And I've got this
I've got this down to a science
and you'll get
you'll get what you deserve

You're such a fucking fake
I don't know who I think I am
I'm becoming a person
I don't think that I can stand
and satan if you're there
I've got a good soul to sell
and I'll sell it cheap
and I'll sell it
